Below are some of our favourites that are quick and fun DIY ideas that we know Mother’s will appreciate.
Fruit Tea
Ingredients
- 2 cups of Gin Gin & Dry 100% Australian Dried Shredded Fruit
- 1 cup of dried rose petals
- 2 cups of white tea loose leaf or black tea if you prefer
- ½ cup of your choice of herb (optional but we like to use dried mint)
Method
1. Mix all of the above ingredients together and store in an airtight container in a cool dark place for up to 4 months.
2. To brew the infusion, use hot water, but not boiling as the tea may turn bitter due to the longer steeping time.
3. Use 2 tbsp of the fruit tea mix per 1 cup of hot water in tea pot. Adjust to suit your tastes.
4. Steep for 10 minutes. You can step white tea longer than black tea.
5. Serve and enjoy!
Citrus, Rose & Lavender Bath Salts
Ingredients
- 2 cups epsom salts
- ¼ cup baking soda
- ¼ cup milk powder or coconut milk powder (optional)
- ¼ cup dried rose petals
- ¼ cup dried lavender buds
- ½ cup of crumbled Gin Gin & Dry Dried Orange or Mandarin
- Extra full slices of dried citrus to decorate the top of the gift jars
Method
1. In large bowl, combine epsom salts and baking soda. Use a large wooden spoon to mix well. The optional milk powder or coconut milk powder can be added during this step.
2. Next add the dried flowers and dried crumbled citrus.
3. Save some of the flowers and citrus mix to decorate a top layer in your gift jar.
4. Scoop the entire mixture into airtight glass jars. You can use a funnel to help transfer your salts. Make sure that your containers have air tight lids and store the jars in a cool, dark cupboard until you’re ready to use the salts.
